When she first began her real estate career in 2001, she saw it as an opportunity to help all kinds of people with one of the most important decisions in their lives, the purchase or sale of a home or the opportunity to invest in income property. Karen describes the field of Real Estate as “challenging, exciting and dynamic.” In addition to managing her own business, Karen has received numerous awards such as the Re/Max Presidents Club Award, Re/Max Executive Club Award, Re/Max 100% Club Award, and Re/Max Hall of Fame Award.

What is your favorite part of being a real estate agent?

I’ve always enjoyed a challenge, problem solving and working with people. The Real Estate field is an extremely challenging and constantly changing industry. To succeed in this industry and be as helpful to a client as possible, I need to stay open minded, flexible and aware of the dynamics of the marketplace. There is nothing more rewarding in this business than helping an individual or a family buy a wonderful house that they can make their home and create memories that will last a lifetime.

As a real estate professional, I enjoy meeting new people and helping them with one of the most important decisions in their life. The sale or purchase of a new home bears great importance on an individual or a family’s spiritual, emotional, physical and financial well-being. I find that patience in working with clients, listening and responding to their needs is critical in my profession. It’s important to find the right home for each client; a home that fulfills their dreams, matches their lifestyle, and fits into their financial plan.

What is the most important thing a first-time homebuyer should do?

Prepare financially for the purchase of a home. Meet with a lender and get prequalified before they even begin to look for a home. This way if they are not quite ready to purchase a home now they can develop a plan to get to the position where they will be ready. Once they’ve been prequalified meet with a professional Realtor that has the experience and knowledge to help them find the home they are looking for, make the right decisions and guide them through the purchasing process.

How are conditions in your area’s market?

Prices and interest rates are still at an all-time low however we’re seeing the market turn and we’re looking at substantial appreciation of home values for the first time in years.

Inventories are expected to remain low for the next year so it’s even more important to have an experienced Realtor working with you to help navigate thru this dynamic market. Homes are selling very quickly and your Realtor can help you stay on top of the market and get information to you on that incredible home or investment property the minute it becomes available.

For the first time in years investors can find properties in Orange County that will give them positive cash flow. They no longer have to go out of state to find those great buys, they’re right here in their own backyard.

Why do you call this area home?

I have lived in Orange County since 1982. I raised my two sons in the city of Orange and have seen the area change over the years. Orange County has developed into a very diverse and exciting community. The wide selection of cities within our county offer such a diverse style of living that there is something here for everyone. The community activities, schools and universities, entertainment and cultural centers, sports centers, world class shopping and dining, beaches, hospitals and parks all come together to make Orange County one of the most desirable places to live in the country.

Professional Experience, Service, Quality, Honesty & Integrity... I am a very efficient agent who is accessible to my clients. I respond to their needs and work with them to achieve their goals. It’s important to keep your clients motivated and excited about the entire process. Buying and selling a home is not an easy task and it takes a lot of open, honest and timely communication with all parties involved to achieve success. I am dedicated to protecting my client’s interests and helping them to achieve their real estate dreams and goals.

What qualities should a good agent possess? How do you exemplify any or all of these qualities?

A good agent should put their client’s interests first and foremost. In order to do so they need to be a good listener and find out what the client’s goals and objectives are. Without understanding what the client truly wants, it’s impossible to develop a plan to successfully achieve those goals. Patience and understanding are other qualities that a good agent should possess. The process of finding a home and then going through escrow can be a challenging and taxing process. Clients will experience a range of emotions from joy and happiness to anxiety, doubt, stress and frustration. A good agent needs to understand this and help their client understand that this is normal and help them work through this. A good agent has to be responsive and aggressive in their relationship with their client and other agents. Good deals don’t just happen—you need to make them happen.

Why would someone want to call Orange County home?

I believe that the gentle climate is one of the primary reasons so many people like myself enjoy living here. The proximity of OC to so many things is also a very positive attribute. We can be at the ocean or beach within minutes or on snow covered mountains or the desert within a little over an hour. We have numerous highly rated golf courses, beautiful parks, hiking trails, equestrian trails, cultural centers, music halls, museums, theatres, schools, and world class shopping. There is truly an abundance of things to do in Orange County all of which contribute to our special world famous Southern California lifestyle. Orange County is a great business, cultural, educational and recreational center.
