Tustin CA
Tustin, California is a community in Orange County just to the east of Santa Ana. Approximately 77,000 people call Tustin home. In 2009, Forbes named it as one of the top 25 places in which to live in the United States.

Father Junipero Serra and his Spanish expedition visited the area in the latter part of the 18th century. In 1776, Mission San Juan Capistrano was established as the first permanent European settlement in the area. In 1801, Jose Antonio Yorba received a 62,500-acre land grant here from the Spain Empire. His lands included the areas that today comprise Tustin, Santa Ana, Villa Park, Orange, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa.

After the Mexican-American War, the area became a part of the United States. A carriage maker that moved here from northern California, Columbus Tustin, founded the city now named after him on 1,300 acres of land. When Tustin was incorporated in 1927, its population was less than a thousand. After World War II, orchards and farms were progressively converted into subdivisions and shopping centers.

Parks and Recreation

The city of Tustin maintains over a dozen parks ranging up to 20 acres in size. The 20-acre Tustin Sports Park is the largest of the facilities in the system. Its extensive amenities include six lighted tennis courts, two lighted basketball courts, three lighted ballfields and playground equipment. A concession stand serves food and drink, and there's parking for over 200 vehicles. Citrus Ranch Park is unique in that it includes a lemon orchard amidst its 17 acres. There's also a scenic hilltop gazebo, a hiking trail, BBQ facilities and playground equipment.
